TransBareAll as an organisation is rooted in the principles of body positivity, sex and intimacy, and emotional well-being. So our next retreat is going to focus on our bodies and will explore Body Image.

The retreat will be a positive and welcoming space where bodies, and our feelings about them, can be considered from a new perspective. There will be an opportunity to connect with people with all kinds of bodies, and work together looking at some of the ways in which we relate to our bodies, and our bodies relate to the world in which we live.

Our bodies are observed and assessed all the time; by ourselves and people around us. We exist in a world with arbitrary standards of physical appearance, and how we measure up to these can affect our sense of self. The retreat will be a mix of planned activity and social time, during which we will look at ideas including: what these societal expectations are, how we choose to live with them (or not!), how our weight is experienced, and how we can build positive and loving relationships with our bodies.

All TBA retreats involve a strong social element, where people can get to know each other in an informal setting and this one will be no different. An important part of thinking about our bodies includes thinking about our physical health, and we thought this would be a great chance to give our bodies chance to recover from the excess of the Xmas period.  With this in mind, we have decided to make this weekend a dry retreat. We ask that you do not bring or consume alcohol or other substances on this weekend.

It is open to anyone who self-identifies as being on the trans masculine spectrum – eg. trans masculine, trans man, FTM, transgender man, transsexual man, man with a trans history – and non-binary / genderqueer people who were afab (assigned female at birth – please see our FAQ for more information on this term, and our reasons for this focus).

If you require a personal assistant to come with you who doesn’t identify as this, please talk to us. We want to do everything we can to make this accessible.

Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a personal assistant (PA) with you. We will be able to accommodate PAs. We also want to acknowledge that, depending on what type of PA relationship you have, you may want to have privacy to discuss and explore certain things without your PA present. We encourage you to let us know if this is something that you might need, so that we can make provision for your PA to step out at the right times and give you privacy without it feeling like a big deal. All of this will be confidential.

If you have any difficulties meeting these costs please do let us know and we can discuss payment options with you. We do not want anyone to miss out due to financial difficulties. We are committed to offering support where available specifically for trans people of colour who wish to attend.
