After Dark 2

Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th November 2017
trans masc. and partners
Bamford, Derbyshire
Bookings go live at 7.30pm on Friday 1st September 2017

The After Dark retreat will explore the practice and pleasure of kink and BDSM (bondage, domination, sadomasochism, and masochism), with experienced practitioners and trainers guiding us through the weekend. This retreat is for beginners who have little or no experience with BDSM, or perhaps those who haven’t played for a long time – covering essential basics like negotiating a scene, safety, consent, aftercare, and techniques for different kinds of play such as rope use, sensation play and so on. If you’ve ever wanted to explore your kinky self, this may be the retreat for you!

The 101 beginner’s level of this retreat is in keeping with the TBA spirit of encouraging people to challenge themselves and explore something that they may not be able to access in other places (apologies to those of you with more experience – this is not the retreat for you, although we will look to hold a mixed experience retreat in future).

You don’t need to bring a partner to this retreat, although you can if you wish, (please be aware that we want to prioritise trans people accessing the space, so we are limiting numbers to one partner per person). Your partner will also need to register. They can be of any gender.

Like all TBA retreats, this weekend will be rooted in the TBA principles of body positivity, sex and intimacy, and emotional well-being. It is open to anyone who self-identifies as being on the trans masculine spectrum – eg. trans masculine, trans man, FTM, transgender man, transsexual man, genderqueer, non-binary, man with a trans history – and non-binary people who were afab.

People attending as partners can be of any gender. If you require a personal assistant (PA) to come with you, please let us know so that we can do as much as possible to make this retreat accessible for you.

Accessibility and Travel Info:

The venue is Hagg Farm on the A57, near Bamford, S33 0BJ. The closest station is Bamford train station. There are also buses which run from Sheffield that stop outside the Ladybower Inn.

The accommodation consists of dorm-type rooms of various sizes. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible with assist bars in the accessible bathrooms, a lift to the first floor and space to maneover wheelchairs around the venue, including dorms. The dining room area has strip lighting and slightly echoey accoustics, but you're free to eat wherever you like. There are a limited number of 2 bed dorms available and will be allocated based on access needs. We have our own hearing loop which we will bring. There is also a quiet space for people to use if needed. If you have any other needs or have any concerns around accessing the weekend or venue, please contact us, as we are happy to discuss how we can help. We will ask you about dietary requirements at the point of registration. Please ensure that you include details about allergies and other dietary requirements.

Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a PA with you. We will be able to accommodate PAs. We also want to acknowledge that, depending on what type of relationship you have with your PA, there may be times when you want privacy to discuss and explore certain things without having your PA present. Let us know if this is something you might need, so that we can make provision for your PA to step out at certain times and give you privacy without it being a big deal. All of this will be confidential.
