Join the Team!
Looking for a challenge? Want to get involved in grassroots organising?
TransBareAll are excited to be looking for two or three new volunteers to join the management team. We are working hard to improve our diversity so would be really excited to hear from POC folk to increase our diversity of experience.
The TBA team is a group of volunteers who, each year, organise three weekend-long residential events for up to 25 people and one long-weekend residential party for 60. We also engage with other community events throughout the year (like Trans Pride Brighton, UK Black Pride etc). We work together on a consensus basis and each take the lead on different aspects of the TBA work to create accessible spaces for trans people to explore and grow together.
Benefits
-
You will attend TBA events free of charge and all expenses will be paid.
-
You will receive training once a year on a relevant topic chosen by the team. Previous training has included anti-racism awareness and alcohol awareness.
-
You can gain new skills.
-
You can build on and improve existing skills.
-
Make a difference to the wellbeing of trans people
-
Work with a great team (well, we think so...)
What would you have to do?
Before you send us your expression of interest, please note that as a baseline we expect that all team members commit to:
-
Planning and helping with at least one weekend per year (with others, not alone)
-
Assisting at the party
-
Helping out with other events (Such as book launches, stalls etc.)
-
Attending the yearly management team development weekend at which we plan the year ahead.
-
Attending the yearly training session (one day)
-
Engaging with the rest of the team at least twice a week online through facebook
Be mindful that attending a TBA Weekend as a guest is different to attending as a team member. You will be expected to work throughout the weekend as part of the team to create and maintain the space.
How to apply
You can send us up to 500 words explaining:
-
Why you want to join the TBA team
-
Your lived experience (e.g. what communities are you part of and how are you involved in them?)
-
How you show commitment to anti-discriminatory practice / service delivery
-
Any specific skills you can bring to the team e.g. social media, creative, facilitation
-
Anything else you want us to know!
If writing isn’t for you, you can submit an 8 minute video or audio recording. Please let us know if you have any access needs.
If you're successful with your application, the next stage will be an interview. This will give you the chance to talk more about you and your skills and experience. It’s also a chance to ask us questions to confirm we are an organisation you want to work with!
Who can apply?
Anyone of any gender can apply. We are a trans-led and trans-majority organisation, but we also include cis people who are part of the community as allies, partners and friends.
We positively welcome applications from People of Colour.
You must be over 18 and based in the UK.
Applications close at the end of March.
If you have any questions before you want to apply please contact us!
